WWE has seen a great response for its games and it is an important way of growing the craze for the company and the sport in general. Stephanie McMahon recently announced that a new WWE Video game is in development and will be publicly revealed soon.
WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon expressed how pleased the company is with the re-launch of WWE’s premium video game console franchise – WWE 2K during the Q1 2022 earnings call.
The latest game in the WWE 2K franchise – WWE 2K22 was released a couple of months ago. It has received decent reviews from the fans. This was the first game in the WWE 2K franchise after WWE 2K21 was scrapped mainly because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the negative reviews the previous edition of WWE 2K20 received.
“Innovation and interactivity are critical of the success of any media property,” Stephanie said. “We were extremely pleased with the re-launch of our premium video game console franchise, WWE 2K. After taking a little more than a year off to improve the game engine, we worked hand-in-glove with our partners at Take Two Interactive. Listened to our customers and fans, and earned back their trust by delivering a game that exceed their expectations. WWE 2K22 was a commercial and critical success, with the highest Metacritic scores on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms, in franchise history, with over 5.6 million hours viewed on Twitch to date.”
McMahon also mentioned how they continue to see strong performances from their mobile games, 2K’s WWE Supercard, and Scopely’s WWE Champions mobile game. She went on to reveal that WWE had signed a new deal for the launch of a role-playing game.
“We continue to see strength in the performance of our mobile games, with 2K and Scopely’s Supercard and Champions, and recently signed a new deal in the role-playing game space that will be announced soon,” she said.

“Gaming is a priority for WWE to reach our next-gen audience with over 80% of WWE’s audience self-identifying as gamers, and nearly 60% of the gaming audience in general being 34 years or younger,” she added.
Fans of WWE games will certainly be excited after the announcement from McMahon regarding the new game. She has said the announcement will be made soon. Till then we will have to wait to find out more details.
