It’s only a matter of days before Newcastle completes their huge money take over. However, the team has been warned that convincing top players to sign for them in the summer after the takeover may be a tall order, even when they have mouthwatering wages to throw around.
According to former Chelsea player, Craig Burley, most of such players would prefer Manchester and London based clubs instead of Newcastle. Of course, this is coming because the team is expected to splash the money in the bid to bring in new names in the summer transfer. This could give them a boost to finish in their highest positions in club history across a range of competitions. If you feel like this could be the case, then you can even bet on it. Betting sites including maxfreebets.co.uk have multiple offers on all major sports such as football, tennis, cricket and UFC.
The football world is expecting the takeover to be completed in a few days, even though Amnesty international and beIN sports are protesting against that.
The team is about to be taken over by a consortium that is being sponsored by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), in a move that will bring Mike Ashley’s spell as the club’s owner to an end.
Reports from financial houses put the worth of the PTF to £320billion, and the simple meaning of this is that there are expectations that the club’s world record signing of £40m would be destroyed and a new record set in the coming years.
However, the man Burley thinks that the money alone would not be enough to lure big-name players to the club.
When talking to ESPC FC, he posited that he has a feeling that players of that caliber will still prefer to go with teams that are based on London, rather than head northeast.
Most of the big-name players that are out of contract this season, including Edinson Cavani and Willian are all linked to the club, because of the expected takeover.
However, Burley believes that because these big-name players will also see offers coming their way from some other clubs in other places, it won’t be easy for Newcastle to land their signatures. For him, they will need a lot of convincing to get them to buy into their new project, and he doubts Newcastle can achieve that.
He went ahead to posit that Chelsea would definitely want to retain the services of players like Pedro and Willian.
So, it’s a huge problem on its own to lure big-name players to the northeastern part of the country.
Explaining what he meant, he went ahead to say that he is saying this with every sense of respect to the Newcastle football club. However, the fact remains that London has been the center of football in the country for a very long time.
He also agreed that the clubs in Manchester have succeeded in attracting the big-name players over the years. But that does not mean that it would be easy to lure players away from the civilization in London to the northeastern part of the country.
He explained that to achieve this, a whole lot of money has to be involved.
Identifying the players to buy for him is no big deal. The problem lies in what to use and how to hand twist them to buy into the new project in the club.
That is where he sees the entire difficulty.
