The sequel to Chris Hemsworth’s successful Netflix action-thriller Extraction sequel is set to be released in the Summer 2023
Extraction 2 has been scheduled for release in 2023. This series is based on a graphic novel by the Russo Brothers and Ande Parks. The first Extraction movie came out on Netflix in 2020 and it became the most watched original film on the service.
Chris Hemsworth led the cast as an Australian black-ops mercenary, Tyler Rake, who is tasked with saving Ovi, the son of an Indian drug lord who has been kidnapped in Bangladesh but during the mission, Tyler is double-crossed by a Lieutenant colonel who wants to take the credit for Ovi’s rescue, which considerably complicates the assignment.
Extraction is directed by Avengers: Endgame’s stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave and featured an international cast starring Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and David Harbour, besides Hemsworth.
According to Collider, Extraction 2 has been scheduled for release in 2023. A specific premiere date has not been announced yet. No additional casting information has been announced for Extraction 2 either. The plot remains under wraps.
The Russo brothers, who produce the movie under their AGBO productions banner, have also not released any plot information.
Previous Extraction movie got mixed reviews from the critics
When Extraction 1 was released on 2020 it got mixed reviews. On one hand, it was widely praised for its spectacular action ad compelling performance, however, on the other hand, it also got criticised for its screenplay and the white-saviour narrative.
The movie was successful enough to get a sequel. Extraction 2, announced in May 2020, with Hargrave, Hemsworth, and Farahani returning and Joe Russo writing.
This Time the shoot was comprised of locations like the Czech Republic, Austria, and Australia. The shooting started in November 2021 and continued until April 2022. Netflix can be expected to begin promotions for Extraction 2 once Hemsworth finishes work on the Max Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa.
