Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke recently reveals about her brain surgeries and how parts of her brain are missing
GoT star Emilia Clarke recently opened up some shocking revelations related to her healthy life. She recently discussed how her life has been affected since surviving two brain aneurysms.
She has survived two brain surgeries while filming for Game of Thrones. She is among the very few who survived this surgery. Clarke recently appeared on BBC1 where she revealed how part of her brain is missing since surgery.
“You gain a lot of perspectives. The amount of my brain that is no longer usable – it’s remarkable that I am able to speak, sometimes articulately, and live my life completely normally with absolutely no repercussions. I am in the really, really, really small minority of people that can survive that.”
“There’s quite a bit missing, which always makes me laugh. Because strokes, basically, as soon as any part of your brain doesn’t get blood for a second, it’s gone. And so the blood finds a different route to get around but then whatever bit it’s missing is therefore gone.”
Emilia Clarke’s first aneurysm burst in 2011 which caused a stroke that got operated on. But after the second burst in 2013, her aneurysm had doubled in size.
Here are some of the things you should know about the life-threatening disease, aneurysm
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine Centre, it is a ballooning arising from an abnormal focal dilation of an artery in the brain that results from a weakening of the inner muscular layer in the wall of a blood vessel in the brain.
It is quite life-threatening because if a brain aneurysm expands and the blood vessel wall becomes too thin, It will rupture and bleed into the space around the brain.
Most brain aneurysms have no symptoms and are small in size. However, some occasional symptoms include headaches, eye pain etc.
Emilia said that she is among the very few who survived this surgery and that it’s remarkable how she can still speak. The actress is popular for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game Of Thrones.
