Johnny Depp fires back at ex-wife Amber Heard and counters $2 million damages in a new appeal
Amber Heard was awarded $2 million damages in the Johnny Depp defamation trial but now Depp has countered that in a new appeal.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation trial became one of the most talked about topics a few days back. Depp went on to win the lawsuit he had filed against his ex-wife Amber. However, it seems like the story is not over yet.
According to Deadline in the paperwork filed in Fairfax County, Johnny has appealed the $2 million defamation award. During the verdict, the jury in Virginia awarded this money to Heard at their trial last month.
Depp’s appeal comes as a response to Amber’s appeal of July 21 as it is a try to get back the $2 million award that the Virginia jury gave Amber in her $100 million countersuit against Johnny and his 2019 $50 million complaint, Deadline reports.
It all started when Johnny had sued Amber for defaming him in a 2018 Washington Post article where she called herself a survivor of domestic abuse.
Johnny Depp’s ex-Kate Moss opens up about speaking up in his defamation trial against Amber Heard
During Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s explosive trial, Johnny’s ex Kate Moss also delivered a testimony where she defended the actor and denied claims that he was violent against her.
Recently Moss was interviewed with BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discus where she revealed why she decided to speak up at the high-profile trial in Virginia via a video testimony. She mentioned that she had to say the truth.
“I know the truth about Johnny. I know he never kicked me down the stairs. I had to say that truth.” In her court testimony, Moss recalled the incident involving Depp and revealed that she slipped down the stairs and hurt her back and it was Johnny who got her medical help and carried her to her room.
She clarified in her testimony that The Pirates of the Caribbean star was never violent towards her and mentioned that he “never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down any stairs.”
It will be now interesting to see where this new appeal will take us.
