Comedian and TV Presenter Rhod Gilbert receiving treatment for Cancer. Here are all the latest updates related to it
Comedian Rhod Gilbert has recently said that he is undergoing medical treatment after being diagnosed with cancer at the Velindre Center in Cardiff.
Gilbert is a familiar face on TV. He has been a star of shows including Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Taskmaster, and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. He said that there has been some exceptional support provided by him for the charity over the years.
He shared the news on Facebook a week after postponing the finals shows of his current tour
“As a proud patron of Velindre Cancer Centre, I’ve trekked the world, hosted chaotic quizzes and star-studded comedy nights,” he said. “I’ve met and made friends with so many inspirational staff, patients and their families. It has been a huge part of my life for the last ten years. “So while I never imagined that I would be a patient here, I know better than anyone that I am in the best possible hands. The NHS care I’m receiving is incredible. (Via Sky News)
He added “Thank you, everyone, for your support over the last few weeks and months (and years). I’ll be disappearing for a while and won’t be commenting further, at least not for now, whilst I focus on my recovery.”
Rhod has earlier announced on 9 July that it would be the last of his Book of John tour as he is postponing the remaining ones after suffering from neck and throat pain for several months.
For years the 53-year-Old comedian has raised funds for people with the same disease and continues to do so.
A fan recently took to Twitter and posted a heartfelt message about the artist. He wrote that Rhod Gilbert is one of the funniest men he has ever heard.
