Matt Hardy heaps praise on Steve Blackman

Matt Hardy and his brother Jeff Hardy ran into WWE Hardcore legend, Steve Blackman today, and the AEW star was all praise for The Lethal Weapon.

Steve Blackman was one of the toughest guys during the Attitude Era. His no-nonsense gimmick was loved by fans and in the picture posted by Matt Hardy, the legendary wrestler still looks quite sharp.

Along with the picture posted by Matt on his official Twitter handle, he wrote in the caption how happy he and his brother were upon meeting Blackman.

“Myself & Jeff were so happy to run into Steve Blackman today. A legit cool & badass dude who rarely does public appearances nowadays. As the charismatic @JCLayfield would say, it was OUTSTANDING!”

Steve Blackman is married and has two children. He has worked as a bail bondsman in the central Pennsylvania area.

Blackman began as a competitive bodybuilder and weightlifter before entering professional wrestling in 1986 in Connecticut, training at Tony Altamore’s wrestling school and working for Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling in Calgary.

Blackman’s first appearance for WWE (then WWF) was on March 9, 1988, at a house show in Watertown, New York where he won against David Sammartino.

He retired on December 10, 2007. His last match was on the Raw 15th Anniversary Special episode where he participated in a battle royal. He was eliminated by Flash Funk.

In July 2006, Blackman had re-opened Steve Blackman’s Fighting Systems, which featured MMA classes. Blackman has also hosted a few MMA events as well.

The 58-year-old Blackman had opened a self-defense school in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania called BlackmanMMA in mid-2003, where he taught jujitsu and wrestling.
