Born and raised in Maine, Rachel Griffin attended Sanford High School and later the University of Southern Maine. She holds a master’s degree in music education from New York University and was a music teacher at a New York City preschool before starting her YouTube channel.
Currently pursuing a second master’s degree in early childhood education, she launched her channel, “Ms Rachel,” in 2019 alongside her husband, Broadway’s Aron Accurso. The channel, inspired by her son’s speech delay, evolved into the popular series “Songs for Littles,” combining classic children’s songs and original music for toddlers. The show, initially an in-person class, gained traction during the COVID-19 pandemic and now boasts over three million subscribers.
Accurso’s distinctive pink shirt, overalls, and headband make her instantly recognizable in “Songs for Littles,” where she’s joined by a diverse team, including Keisha Gilles, Alexa Smith, Frida Matute, Beth Jean, Jules Hoffman, Natalie Kaye Clater, and Aron Accurso.
Additionally, Accurso found success on TikTok as “Ms Rachel,” amassing over two and a half million followers. A break in February 2023, ostensibly for mental health reasons, led to speculation among fans about its connection to backlash against Jules Hoffman’s pronoun use. Accurso later returned to TikTok after signing with Creative Artists Agency, maintaining her influential presence in the online space.
The major reason for Ms Rachel getting into youtube is her son, Thomas. Her son has a speech delay condition and his first word was at 2 years and 8 months. Rachel’s husband, Aron has supported her throughout her youtube journey.
Speech delay refers to a condition where a child’s speech and language development lag behind their peers. It’s a common developmental concern, often noticeable when a child is significantly slower in reaching speech milestones. These milestones encompass the ability to form words, use age-appropriate vocabulary, and communicate effectively.
Various factors can contribute to speech delays, such as hearing impairment, oral motor difficulties, developmental disorders, or a lack of exposure to language stimulation. Early intervention is crucial, as addressing speech delay during the formative years can significantly improve a child’s long-term language skills and overall communication abilities.
Speech therapy, tailored to the child’s specific needs, is the primary approach to help overcome speech delays. Therapists work on articulation, language comprehension, social communication, and other aspects to bridge the gap. Patience, consistent support from parents and caregivers, and a supportive environment play vital roles in helping children with speech delay catch up and thrive.
According to reports, Miss Rachel has only one child.
