World No. 41 Jack Draper locks horns with world No. 111 Dominic Stephan Stricker in a group-stage encounter of the Next Gen ATP Finals 2022 on Tuesday.
The British youngster has had a very promising season that has seen him rise up the rankings from No. 265 at the start of the season to No. 41 now. He has won 17 matches on the tour this season and lost 11. Draper has also improved his fitness levels and according to a recent interview with ATPTour.com, the fact that he has managed to stay free from injuries has helped him succeed.
The 20-year-old has won 4 Challenger titles this season and holds a 24-4 record on the Challenger circuit. He made it to the semis in Eastbourne and the third round at the US Open. Prior to the Next Gen ATP Finals, Draper competed in the recently concluded Paris Masters. After defeating Arthur Rinderknech convincingly in the first round, Draper was ousted by America’s Frances Tiafoe in the following round.
The 20-year-old might not have had as great a season as his upcoming opponent but he has managed to win a couple of Challenger titles.
Dominic Stephan Stricker has mostly competed on the Challenger circuit this season. A couple of his biggest wins came at the European Open and the Basel Open when he defeated Botic van de Zandschulp and Maxime Cressy respectively. Stephan Stricker played a Challenger event in Bergamo before coming for the Next Gen ATP Finals. In that tournament, he was ousted in the quarterfinals by Otto Virtanen.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have never crossed paths as yet.
Prediction: Jack Draper to win in straight sets.
