Second seed Lorenzo Musetti locks horns with the third seed Jack Draper in what promises to be a riveting group-stage encounter at the Next Gen ATP Finals on Thursday.
The 20-year-old came into the tournament as the hot favorite. He has so far won a match while having lost the other and his final match will be an important one against another fine young player.
Lorenzo Musetti began his Next Gen ATP Finals campaign smoothly with a comprehensive victory in straight sets against Tseng Chun-hsin 4-2, 4-2, 4-2. In his second match, the Italian youngster fell two sets down against an impressive Dominic Stephan Stricker but bounced back strongly to win the next two sets. The Swiss managed to hold his nerves in the final set and eventually won the match 4-3 (7-5), 4-3 (8-6), 3-4 (7-9), 3-4 (6-8), 4-3 (7-3).
The southpaw has also won one match and lost another. He avenged his Wimbledon junior boys final loss against Tseng Chun-hsin after getting off the a rough start in the tournament.
The 20-year-old suffered a defeat in straight sets against Dominic Stephan Stricker in his opening match at the Next Gen ATP Finals. He had to bounce back strongly against old foe Tseng Chun-hsin and he managed to do so. After going down in the first set, Draper made a fine comeback to win the match 1-4, 4-2, 4-3 (7-2), 4-2 and stay afloat in the tournament.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have not faced each other as yet.
Prediciton: Lorenzo Musetti to win in five sets.
