The in-form Lorenzo Musetti begins his Next Gen ATP Finals campaign against Taiwan’s Tseng Chun-hsin on Tuesday.
Lorenzo Musetti
The Italian tennis pro is certainly the favorite going into the tournament with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Holger Rune not playing.
Musetti has had a great second half of the season. He won his first ATP title at the German Open when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final. He reached a couple of semifinals in the Sofia Open and the Firenze Open before bagging his second ATP title at the Tennis Napoli Cup. Musetti is coming into the tournament on the back of a quarter-final exit in the Paris Masters after he lost in straight sets against Novak Djokovic. Last year, he could not progress beyond the group stages as he lost two out of his three matches.
Tseng Chun-hsin
Tseng Chun-hsin made his Grand Slam debut earlier this year at the Australian Open after receiving a wildcard. He won an ATP Challenger title in Bangalore, and this was just his second Challenger title win. He won his third ATP Challenger title in Murcia in April.
The 21-year-old is coming into this tournament on the back of an exit in the round of 32 at the Challenger event in Busan last month. The world No. 90 will look to make a mark in a tournament that has given a launching platform for many stars in the future.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have never crossed paths as yet.
Prediction: Lorenzo Musetti to win in straight sets.
