Conor McGregor, Joe Rogan, Jake Paul and Jon Jones are some of the biggest names in the world of combat sports and here are their next MMA fight
The MMA world is currently filled with some big names that have taken the sport to new heights. Conor McGregor, Amanda Nunes, Jon Jones and Valentina Shevchenko are some of the newer names that have brought millions of fans to the sport.
There are other big names who have graced the sport but have retired or left it behind. Khabib Nurmagomedov, Ronda Rousey and Georges St-Pierre are just a few that have been part of the modern generation of MMA.
Nevertheless, there are a few big names that are still active in the UFC while a few are trying to make their name in the sport.
The UFC schedules events regularly, sometimes every week of the month, and most of the top names feature in pay-per-views.
A pay-per-view is huge for the UFC as they can sell tickets and shows on TV or stream. McGregor is one name that sells hundreds of thousands of pay-per-views, and there is always an interest in when he is fighting next.
We will look at a few big names from the MMA world and share when they are to fight or feature next.
Arguably the biggest name in MMA, McGregor’s last two outings haven’t been great. He has lost twice to Dustin Poirier and hasn’t fought since July 2021.
That outing was at UFC 264 and it ended in dramatic fashion. McGregor broke his ankle against Poirier and has been on the mend since.
The Irishman is a former two-division champion and there were some who claimed he could return for a Lightweight title clash against current Champion Charles Oliveira.
However, the Irishman seems keen on winning a title in a third weight class and the Welterweight title could be his next target.
McGregor hasn’t brought up when his next fight is going to be and he might have to wait a bit since the Champion, Kamaru Usman, is to fight Leon Edwards in 2022.
Rogan isn’t an MMA fighter but he is one of the biggest names in the business. The commentator is one of the most recognised voices in the world, especially thanks to his comedy shows and his wildly popular podcast.
However, Rogan is also known for his commentary duties for the UFC, and seemed to be a regular at pay-per-views before Covid-19 hit.
He had been away from some big shows due to his podcast controversy, but has returned to action since UFC 272.
While there is no confirmation of when he will feature next, UFC 274 should be his next outing. Rogan mostly features on pay-per-views but only if they are in America.
Jones is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, and many consider him to be the greatest MMA star of all-time.
Of course, he has had his run-ins with the law and recently was arrested in a domestic violence case.
Jones vacated his Light Heavyweight title back in August 2020 and has been looking to make his Heavyweight debut.
While Jones has spoken about fighting for almost a year, it seems he is ready for his next outing. Jones brought up wanting to fight the former Champion, Stipe Miocic, and it seems they will clash in September 2022.
Paul also isn’t an MMA star but has spoken about fighting McGregor and Jorge Masvidal, both of whom are in the UFC.
The boxer is currently 5-0 in his professional career, and has knocked out former UFC stars Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren in the boxing ring.
Paul has called out Michael Bisping for a fight in the future, and it is to be seen if this takes place. The Youtuber-turned-boxer hasn’t fought since December 2021. However, that all could change if Bisping does accept Paul’s latest callout.
