Jerry Jones once opened up on the amount of money that he spent to buy the Dallas Cowboys in 1989.

One may argue that Jerry Jones is the most well-liked owner in the National Football League. Because of the legacy, he left behind in Dallas, he has earned a great deal of respect among those in the sports world. Jones had a great deal of opposition to his purchase of the Dallas Cowboys, making it a challenging endeavor for him.

In 1989, Jerry Jones paid a total of 160 million dollars to acquire the franchise. People thought that he had overpaid for it back then because it was a significant amount of money at the time. The same query was posed to Jones when the Cowboys agreed to pay quarterback Dak Prescott $150 million over the course of four years when they signed him. He drew parallels between the circumstances surrounding Prescott’s new deal and those surrounding his acquisition of the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaking about his purchase of the Cowboys, Jerry Jones said, “The truth is most anything that I’ve ever been involved in that ended up being special. I overpaid for, every time, to the end. Anytime I’ve tried to get a bargain, I got just that. It was a bargain in a lot of ways and not up to standard.”
