All you need to know about whether new Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans played in the NFL or not.
DeMeco Ryans, currently the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, has reached an agreement to take over as head coach of the Houston Texans. He has a contract with the organization that will keep him there for the next six years, and he is expected to play a pivotal role in the revitalization of the organization once it is complete.
It is a return to Houston for Ryans, a former linebacker who was selected by the Texans in the second round to begin his career in the National Football League in 2006. Ryans played in Houston for a total of six seasons, and the city’s supporters have a lot of affection for him; hence, the move makes a lot of sense.
In a statement, DeMeco Ryans said, “I’d like to first thank the San Francisco 49ers, Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch for six incredible seasons where I grew as a coach and a man, I couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished together, and I will always cherish the relationships I built there. Being the head coach of the Houston Texans is my dream job and my family is thrilled to be back in H-Town.“
The Denver Broncos were also interested in signing Ryans, but the new head coach of the Texans made the decision to go with the Houston Texans instead. The primary reason for this is that Ryans will have the ability to develop the franchise from the ground up with high draught picks and cap space, something that wasn’t available to them in Denver.
