All you need to know about the future of Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett after another national championship win.
After annihilating TCU in the SoFi stadium, the Georgia Bulldogs were able to win their second consecutive national championship under the direction of Stetson Bennett. The quarterback for Georgia is 25 years old and has already put their name in the hat for the NFL Draft in 2023.
Bennett is older than players such as Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, and Kenny Pickett, but he still participated in collegiate athletics. Now that he has won the national championship not once but twice and has received his degree, he is eager to begin his career in the professional ranks.
After playing his last game for Georgia in Red and Black, star quarterback Stetson Bennett will have to start preparing for life in the National Football League (NFL).
Bennett has already established an unbreakable history in the college game, but in order for him to make it onto an NFL team, he will have to fight tooth and nail for it. Given his performance at Georgia over the course of the previous three years, he will get drafted in the NFL, but it won’t likely be until the third day of the 2023 draught. Even though he is just a rookie, The Mailman always comes through in the clutch and has the potential to improve any environment.
Bennett will bring a wealth of experience with him, and he is the kind of reliable backup that any NFL team would be lucky to have on their roster. As can be observed from his performances in college, he doesn’t make many errors and is very accurate when it comes to distributing the ball. He is already a legendary figure in Georgia, and he has high hopes of achieving the same level of success in the NFL.
As was previously said, Stetson Bennett will most likely be selected in the third or fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. After being selected, he will likely be used as a backup quarterback, at least during his so-called “rookie season.” Bennett is likely to flourish in the role of backup quarterback in the NFL, which offers many players the opportunity to advance their careers significantly.
As per an NFL Scout: “He’s an NFL guy, He’s a backup. He will get drafted. Obviously very instinctive, a good athlete that runs well, has enough arm. The guy makes impressive throws and has big balls. He’s absolutely getting taken; I say sixth round. [Former Georgia quarterback Jake] Fromm went in [the fifth round], and the talent level isn’t much different.”
Another scout said, “I do think he can be a backup for someone, I don’t know how long he lasts, meaning he can be someone’s backup in a cost-controlled situation. But once you start paying someone a little more, you probably want better. There are some teams, though, where once you get in the door and establish yourself as reliable, you almost get some tenure, and they don’t get rid of you, like Cooper Rush in Dallas. So maybe he gets himself a setup like that.”
There have been a lot of quarterbacks who were successful in college but failed to make it into the league. One reason for this is that their function in college was more like that of a game manager than it was in the league. The fact that Bennett is even in this position is remarkable when one considers that he is under six feet tall and that he was a walk-on player initially. If he is successful in making it to the National Football League, then that would be another fantastic chapter in his life narrative.
In his four-year career with Georgia, Stetson Bennett threw for 8124 yards for 62 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. A move to the NFL would bring lifetime financial security for Bennett, and that is the goal for many athletes. Considering how popular he is in Georgia, we can expect to see him in various advertisements as well throughout his life.
