Baker Mayfield hasn’t performed well for the Carolina Panthers this season, and Chris Broussard believes his NFL future looks bleak.
Baker Mayfield was traded to the Carolina Panthers from the Cleveland Browns a few months ago after the arrival of Deshaun Watson. Many thought this move will provide Baker Mayfield the opportunity to get his career back on track and get a big contract from a team next year.
However, that hasn’t worked out well at all for Mayfield as he has had a poor start to his time in Carolina. Now he is injured and is expected to miss some time, but once he is back he needs to show the franchise and the league that he can still play in the NFL. Many people are already wondering whether Baker Mayfield could be out of the league next season, and one of them is Chris Broussard.
Talking about Mayfield, Broussard said, “If he doesn’t play well, if he continues to do what he was doing. He not only is obviously out of Carolina, he might not be in the NFL next year. Hear me out. He’s good enough to be an NFL next year. He could easily be a backup, but with his attitude with what he brings.”
Broussard added, “He could back up a superstar he could back up Mahomes He could backup Tom Brady Aaron Rodgers the great ones? Yeah… That’s when I look, he’s good enough to be a long-term backup in the NFL. But because of his baggage and his attitude. I’m just saying I’m putting it out there that he could not be in the league.”
