An uncle of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has provided the latest update about his health amid a tough situation.
The family of Damar Hamlin thanked the public for its support on Tuesday and asked for continuous prayers for the Buffalo Bills‘ safety, who is still in critical condition after collapsing on the field in Cincinnati on Monday night.
Outside of the hospital on Tuesday evening, Hamlin’s uncle Dorrian Glenn provided an update on the status of his nephew Hamlin’s health. According to him, Hamlin is under sedation, and his condition has been steadily advancing ever since he was brought into the medical facility.
Speaking about it, he said, “Improving from where he was yesterday, We are just going to continue to pray, and I know he is in great hands with the medical team he has here. They have been doing a tremendous job.”
He added, “I know he’s still here, I know he’s fighting, We appreciate all the prayers and support we have been getting from people all over — not just the country, but the world. … It really means a difference for my family to see that, and I know it’ll mean a difference to Damar when he sees that.”
Hamlin’s heartbeat was first restored on the field when he went into cardiac arrest after a hit during the Bills’ game versus the Bengals, which was later postponed. After collapsing during his tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, Hamlin was given CPR on the field for several minutes. Hamlin was given oxygen when he was loaded into an ambulance and brought off the field 16 minutes after collapsing. He was subsequently sent to the adjacent University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.
The game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals will not be played this week and nobody knows yet what the NFL will decide about the future of that game, as it was quite important for the seedings in the AFC. However, the main focus still remains on Hamlin’s health and hopefully, he will make a full recovery as many are praying for him.
