Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones led the way for the New York Giants in their win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Daniel Jones, in only his first postseason appearance, created history. His running back responded by calling him “elite” because of this. For the first time in NFL history, a quarterback (Jones) threw for 300 yards, scored two passing touchdowns, and rushed for at least 70 yards in a playoff game. The New York Giants defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-24 in his postseason debut, and he was unquestionably the game’s most impressive performer.
Saquon Barkley, the star running back of the Giants, saw it and became persuaded that Jones is already a top player in the league. Speaking about Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley said, “I know we have an elite quarterback, He’s shown that multiple times.”
In the second half of the season, Jones has been the Giants’ best player. What started earlier in the season, when his career was on the line, has now continued into the postseason. Jones, a free agent after the season, completed 24 of 35 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns in the game against the Vikings. Furthermore, he rushed for 78 yards on 17 runs, helping New York to its first postseason victory since their 2011 Super Bowl triumph.
Even as late as the beginning of this season, the Giants still had doubts about Jones and so decided not to exercise the fifth-year option on his rookie deal. He would need to show the new leadership that he can serve as a reliable cornerstone of the organization.
