Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers clinched a playoff berth following their win over the Indianapolis Colts.
The Los Angeles Chargers did their bit to secure an AFC wild-card slot following some fortunate outcomes in Week 16 with their victory over the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 20-3 on Monday night.
In order for the Chargers (9-6) to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2018, they achieved their second three-game victory streak of the 2022 season. This will be the first time they have qualified for the postseason since 2018. It will be the first time that the Chargers have qualified for the postseason under the direction of head coach Brandon Staley, who is in his second year at the helm, and with star quarterback Justin Herbert, who was selected with the sixth overall choice in 2020.
Speaking about making it to the playoffs, Justin Herbert said, “It’ll be a lot of fun I’m just excited to be in that atmosphere and to have that opportunity to keep playing football.”
After Los Angeles secured their spot in the wild-card round on Monday night, there is still one spot up for grabs in the American Football Conference.
The Patriots, Jets, Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars all have records of 7-8, but the Miami Dolphins have an overall record of 8-7 and are now in first place among those five teams. The Titans and Jaguars both have their sights set on winning the AFC South division, but the showdown between the Patriots and Dolphins in Week 17 might be the game that tips the first domino in the race for the remaining wild-card spots.
