Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniels spoke about the possibility of a return for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailao took another brutal hit in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals and suffered a serious concussion due to it. It came after Tua got hurt in the game against the Buffalo Bills a few days ago and it raised concerns about the health of the Dolphins quarterback.
The visuals that showed Tua Tagovailoa on the ground were quite disturbing which is why everyone was concerned about the status of Tua. However, the quarterback traveled back with the team after getting cleared by the medics, and it was a positive sign for him in his recovery.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniels recently spoke to the media regarding his quarterback and claimed that the franchise as a whole only cares about Tua as a person and not a player, because the injury could have turned very ugly as well.
Talking about it, McDaniels said, “Honestly, to be completely forthright, I’m not even really thinking about timetables or anything regarding him as a player right now. It’s all about, really, Tua the person.”
He added, “What gets lost in all this is that there’s human relationships, you know, these aren’t just create-a-players, these are people that we mutually invest in and somebody I’ve grown very very close to. When it comes to head injuries and concussions, with things that severe, the only thing I’m worried about is the person first.”
McDaniels continued, ” Just worried about him getting healthy, getting all the testing done that he needs to get done and us working with him so that we can feel good about where that injury is at, and then we will cross the bridge in terms of timetables of however long. Really haven’t even thought about that at this point.”
There is a strong sense around the league that Tua will make a quick recovery following his concussion against the Bengals, however, it is not clear yet when he will return to the field, as the franchise will be extra cautious with him going forward.
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa released a statement on his social media accounts regarding the status of his health after suffering the injury against the Bengals, and he thanked everyone for showing their support toward him.
In the statement, Tua wrote, “I want to thank everyone for all of their prayers and support since the game last night. It was difficult to not be able to finish the game and be there with my teammates, but I am grateful for the support and care I’ve received from the Dolphins, my friends and family, and all the people who have reached out. I’m feeling much better and focused on recovering so I can get back out on the field with my teammates.”
Despite Tua showing signs of recovery, investigations will be made around the Dolphins for clearing him to play against the Bengals after the quarterback showed visible signs of concussion after taking a brutal hit against the Ravens in the game before. Even though coach McDaniels has cleared all the allegations, this story is bound to catch more friction as we move forward.
