Zach Wilson was replaced by Mike White as the starting quarterback for the New York Jets going forward.
After last week’s horror show against the New England Patriots, the New York Jets decided to bench quarterback Zach Wilson. It was a tough decision to make for Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh as Zach Wilson was the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Zach Wilson lacked accountability for his mistakes and claimed he didn’t let the team down last week. Due to it, many of his teammates were left frustrated and ultimately Wilson was benched by the franchise.
After getting benched, Zach Wilson said, “It’s tough man and it’s never fun. But, you know, the first thing kind of went through my mind is I gotta get to work. I gotta, you know, I gotta get better and, and an approach that every single day just keep working to get better.”
He added, “You know what I wouldn’t say necessarily surprised because I’ve been doing my job. And, you know, of course, I would like to not agree with the decision, everything, but it comes down to I gotta play better. It’s deserved to the way that I handled the situation wasn’t right, you know, I got to be a better football player.”
Mike White started for the Jets this week against the Chicago Bears and he led them to a dominating win. Due to it, we are unlikely to see more of Zach Wilson playing this season.
