Matt Ariza was released by the Buffalo Bills after the rookie punter was accused of committing rape in the past.

Matt Ariza made headlines in the NFL when he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills. Named the ‘Punt God,’ Ariza had a lot of fans coming out of college and was primed for huge things in the NFL.

However, his career has taken an overturn, as he was accused of committing the rape of a minor when he was in college. Even though he hasn’t been proven guilty yet, the NFL fans were outraged by the decision of the Bills to keep him on their roster.

This has now been taken care of by the Buffalo Bills, as they have released their rookie punter amid the investigation of the allegations imposed on him. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN: Bills have informed rookie punter Matt Araiza that he is being released, effective immediately. Araiza has been accused along with two others of gang raping a 17-year-old girl last year in a civil lawsuit filed on Thursday.

Schefter added: Bills’ GM Brandon Beane said the team struggled to get answers about punter Matt Araiza, they’re still piecing it together, and that “there are many things that we could not get our hands on. This was about letting Matt go handle his situation.”

Fan Reactions to Matt Ariza getting released by the Buffalo Bills:

Many fans were happy that Matt Ariza was released by the Bills, while others believed he wasn’t proven guilty yet which is why he shouldn’t have been released. They also compared him to Deshaun Watson, and how different treatment is given to different players.
