Justin Herbert the quarterback of the Los Angeles Chargers is fully focused on the season ahead and isn’t thinking about contract talks yet.
Justin Herbert is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. The way he has developed his game so early in his career is the factor that makes him so special. He is seen as a franchise quarterback for the Chargers, and he has earned that label.
Even though he wasn’t able to take his team to the playoffs last year, he had a sensational campaign. The quarterbacks around the league are getting paid big money, but Herbert isn’t concerned about that yet.
He is fully focused on the next season and is not rushing to make any decision or put the pressure on the franchise to offer him a large contract that he fully deserves.
Justin Herbert said, “We haven’t discussed anything but I’ve been so fortunate to play for the Chargers. Whatever happens, happens. I’m just so excited to be here and play football. This has been a great opportunity and I don’t wish it went any other way.”
Justin Herbert believes he is in the right situation
The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert believes that he has found himself in the best situation. He was drafted by the Chargers, and so far everything is heading in a positive direction.
Herbert said, “I love that I was drafted here and that I have been able to play here. I think we’re doing all the right things. I believe in the staff, all the teammates, and the front office. So all I can do is hope for the best. It’s out of my control, but I’ll keep playing football.”
Justin Herbert would love to win the Super Bowl with the team that drafted him. The Chargers are also trying their best to put the right pieces around him, and have improved their roster massively in the offseason so far.
Herbert continues to improve his game on the field
Even though Justin Herbert is almost the perfect quarterback, there is still room for improvement for him in certain areas. He himself believes that and is working on those flaws.
Talking about the work in the offseason, Herbert said, “A lot of it is footwork. I think I can continue to step up in the pocket, feel pressure and get the ball out,” he said. “I think if you can remain calm in the pocket, go through all your reads, and find a tailback if all else fails.”
He added, “I think that’s the huge part about playing quarterback, and (Chargers quarterbacks coach) Shane Day and all the quarterbacks in our room have been working on that a bunch. And just being comfortable and moving. Small, quick movements and being able to get the ball out. I think that’s been really helpful too.”
Justin Herbert will have a formidable task ahead of him to take his team to the playoffs next season. The AFC West is stacked, and he’ll need to overcome the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Derek Carr, and Russell Wilson in order to reach the playoffs.
