Kenny Pickett hasn’t looked special for the Pittsburgh Steelers and is taking too many risky chances that haven’t worked well.
Kenny Pickett was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers this year and the Steelers fans saw him as their franchise quarterback to replace Ben Roethlisberger, who retired last year.
However, things haven’t gone as smoothly for Pickett in his rookie year, as he has been reckless with the ball which has resulted in multiple interceptions. The Steelers don’t have a good roster either, and with a poor O-line, the rookie quarterback can’t do much.
Colin Cowherd blamed coach Mike Tomlin for the struggles of Kenny Pickett and claimed that the Steelers head coach has run out of ideas, as the type of football played around the league has moved ahead very quickly.
Talking about Mike Tomlin, Colin Cowherd said, “Mike Tomlin in my opinion does not have an offensive philosophy. The Steelers just do a really good job of drafting players and developing them. I think Kenny pickets the kind of quarterback that needs an offensive coach Patrick Mahomes would succeed perhaps not to this level, but he’d succeed in this league. Josh Allen has a defensive coach. But Mike Tomlin doesn’t have an offensive philosophy.”
He added, “So Kenny Pickett is left with really good talent around and running for his life having to move constantly against a really, really talented group of corners for the Miami Dolphins. Pickett is good enough to start in this league, but there’s no special there.”
Colin Cowherd continued,“We know Mike Tomlin. He’s won a Super Bowl. He’s been to Super Bowls, but the game is changing. It’s pivoting. And I don’t know what his philosophy is. And he keeps going through offensive coordinators and offensive linemen.“
Both Kenny Pickett and Mike Tomlin would like to turn things around quickly but it seems like this season will not be the one for them. Hopefully, the Steelers will be back stronger next season as they are currently in a transition period.
