New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is impressed by the work done by quarterback Mac Jones in the offseason.
Alabama quarterback Mac Jones was drafted by the New England Patriots in the previous NFL season. There will undoubtedly be a lot of excitement if the Patriots select you as their quarterback in the draught. Primarily as a result of the legendary Tom Brady’s legacy.
Brady was replaced by Cam Newton, who was unable to establish his suitability as the team’s manager. Mac Jones, fortunately, was able to. The quarterback is on track to improve this year after a strong debut campaign. Bill Belichick, Jones’ head coach, was pleased with his offseason work ethic.
Talking about Jones’ improvement, Belichick said, “I think Mac’s done a great job. He’s worked extremely hard. He’s got a tremendous work ethic in all areas. I think there’s a dramatic improvement. His physical work and conditioning, working on his mechanics, working on his footwork, working on his understanding of our offense, of opponent defenses, of situations, all those things.”
He added, “We talk about all those things in various degrees, some more emphasis than others, and the emphasis on maybe some other things that will come later on. We can’t do it all at once, but he’s worked hard.”
Mac Jones wouldn’t want to miss the playoffs this season
The New England Patriots were successful in making the playoffs the previous year. With a rookie quarterback last season, they managed to sneak up on but still reach a reasonable target. But perhaps this time the tale will be different.
Belichick talked about how jones has improved massively from the last season. He said, “He’s made tremendous strides. He did a great job last year, but he’s starting it from a much, much higher point this year than where he started last year,” Belichick said. “His offseason work has been significant. I think everyone recognizes how well he prepares and how much further along he is than he was a year ago.”
Since last year, their division has grown significantly stronger. The Patriots, who might fall behind the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East, are predicted to end with a worse record than the Miami Dolphins.
Mac Jones will therefore need to perform at the highest level. They risk missing the playoffs if they make a mistake during the regular season. Jones and Belichick would both do their best to stay away from that circumstance.
How are the New England Patriots looking for the next season?
The New England Patriots didn’t make any major changes to their roster ahead of this season. So basically, they are almost similar to what they were last season.
However, the Patriots have lost some key members of their coaching staff. It could have a major impact on their season. Their division is quite tough, and qualifying for the playoffs won’t be easy.
Mac Jones has a huge responsibility on his shoulders. If he wants to show the world that he is the heir to Tom Brady, then he will be required to get the best out of what is available to him. Brady did that throughout his career, and hopefully, Mac will be able to do the same.
