The Green Bay Packers seemed to be on the verge of registering another win as they led 20-10 against the New York Giants in London in their Week 5 matchup. But after the halftime, it was a tale of two different stories – Aaron Rodgers’ failing to deliver and the Giants coming out ‘hot’ of the locker room.
To those who missed the game day action, Aaron Rodgers had two drives in the second half. The first was a failed scoring opportunity, while the next one was a quick three-and-out, which seemingly turned the tide of the game in Giants’ favor.
To make matters worse for the reigning MVP, even when the Green Bay Packers looked to bounce back with the game being tied at 20-20, Aaron Rodgers three straight incompletions, which punted his team.
This not-so-familiar performance by Aaron Rodgers enabled sports media personality, Skip Bayless to call him out and go onto eventually compare him with Baker Mayfield, who has been abysmal in the 2022-23 season so far.
Skip Bayless tweeted, “Funny: All I heard all week was how ‘too little’ Baker gets so many passes batted at the line … then on the final 3rd & 4th downs, needing TD to tie, Aaron Rodgers passes were batted. Hit Thibodeaux in the facemask then 6-foot safety McKinney went up and got 1. Aaron Mayfield.”
That being said, Aaron Rodgers finished the game with 25-of-39 for 222 yards and Two TouchDowns. He had no interceptions and even a 96.3 passing rate yet failed to deliver big when his team needed him the most. Did does raise the questions – being 38 years old is Aaron Rodgers failing starting to slip? Who knows, but for now he surely has landed on the unfortunate side of events.
