When a team is going to hit rock bottom, and minutes earlier its players are seen celebrating the win amateurly, things are bound to go haywire. Such was the case for Las Vegas Raiders as they lost against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night.
With a team which are not being able to avail the services of Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp among others. They were being led by the debutant Baker Mayfield, who emphatically ended Rams’ 6-game losing streak with a stunning TD pass to Jefferson as Las Vegas Raiders failed to secure three consecutive wins.
Moreover, as per ESPN Stats & Info, “The Las Vegas Raiders are the fourth team to lose 4 games in a season after leading by 13 or more points, joining the 1998 Indianapolis Colts, 1996 New York Jets and 1982 Los Angeles Rams.”
In the fourth quarter, with just over 1:30 left, Las Vegas Raiders were up by 6 points and were certain to win the game. On one particular play as the ball skimmed the side-line, its players were seen rejuvenating and hitting the griddy much before Baker Mayfield has the last say. As a result of which, the fans showed no mercy in trolling them as well, a lesson that they won’t forget in the games to come.
Safe to say – had this Las Vegas Raiders’ team managed to hold on to those leads and win those games, the AFC West would have looked much different. Who knows maybe they could’ve been the top dogs in their division. Instead, the Raiders drop to 5-8, good for just third in the AFC West and not enough to position themselves for a wild-card ticket in the AFC. But what drama awaits? Remains to be seen.
