Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are considered being one of the greatest and fiercest rivals in NFL history. So, when 12-season-veteran Jason Peters switched the tabs, it has been hard for the football fraternity to digest the same fact. The 40-year-old perennial Pro Bowler has come to terms with Cowboys and would join their practice squad at the outset of the opening week.
Given that recent times haven’t been the most pleasant for Jason Peters as he was without a team entering training camp, his latest move only goes onto show the desperate measures to be taken by the 2010 All Decade Team member.
While the practice squad would give ample time to Jason Peters to make his way up in the starting roster. Yet his place for the opening clash against Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Bucs is in serious doubt, as they arrive in just 6 days. Especially with Tyron Smith side-lined for months because of a knee injury, Cowboys would plan to make no extensive judgments on the 40-year-old veteran.
NFL Twitter goes berserk as Jason Peters ditches Eagles’ fan-base for Dallas Cowboys
Interestingly Rookie Tyler Smith could now be moved to a left guard position, as Jason Peters could have a more explicit role in the O-Line. The 19-year-old NFL Veteran can surely have more power in the offensive strategies of the Dallas Cowboys once he reaches his best health.
The nine-time Pro Bowler has tones of experience under his belt and can definitely come in-handy for Dallas in tricky scenarios. In the 15-game appearance Peters had a last season for Chicago Bears, he kept himself calm and composed throughout. However, this move only led Philadelphia Eagles’ fans to feel betrayed by their own legend.
Take a look at some reactions below-
“I’m looking for an up-and-coming offensive line [on a] good team or a playoff team,” Peters told SiriusXM Radio (in July), as quoted by YahooSports. “Either way is good for me because I can teach or I can sit back. And listen and learn from other veterans of the game, too.”
Will Peters be delivering more agony for the Eagles’ fan-base? Or are the latter going to have the last laugh spoiling the name of their ‘esteemed’ legend? Remains to be seen as Cowboys take the field in the season opener against Tampa Bay.
