Green Bay Packers legendary quarterback Brett Favre gave his insight on how Davante Adams will fare without Aaron Rodgers next season.
The Green Bay Packers traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this off-season. One of the NFL’s top dynamic duos in recent years, Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams were the focal point of an explosive attack that won 13 games in three straight seasons.
Brett Favre, who is among the best quarterbacks to play the game, spoke about how Davante Adams will fare without Rodgers next season. Favre himself is a Green Bay Packers legend, and he knows a thing or two about Rodgers and Adams.
He believes that Davante Adams will regress next season because of not having Rodgers. However, he thinks Rodgers will be able to rely on Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon on the ground and in play-action, and then pick his shots downfield.
Favre said, “No disrespect to Davante at all — zero disrespect. I do think that Davante will make Derek Carr better and, in time, they will be a dynamic duo. Now will it be the duo that Aaron and Davante had? Time will tell.”
“I think Derek Carr’s a very good quarterback, but he’s not in Aaron’s league yet.” – Brett Favre on Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr
Brett Favre was the quarterback of the Packers when Aaron Rodgers was drafted. Rodgers succeeded him and became a legendary quarterback himself. Favre believes Aaron Rodgers is quite ahead of Derek Carr, and as a result, Davante Adams might regress.
Talking about Davante Adams’s new QB Derek Carr, Favre said, “I think Derek Carr’s a very good quarterback, but he’s not in Aaron’s league yet. And may never be, and that’s no disrespect either, but I do think that Davante owes a great deal of gratitude to Aaron and the Packers drafting him.”
He added, “That’s not to say he’s not a great player because he is a tremendous player and we’ll see that with Las Vegas. But it’s just hard to shift gears, especially from a player as prolific as Aaron Rodgers. I’d be shocked if he had the same year he’s had the previous year. That’s not to say he can’t do it, but I would be shocked.”
