Kansas City Chiefs have taken the AFC West division by storm, securing their numero uno spot with a 9-2 tally after the end of Week 12. Their latest win came against defending champions Los Angeles Rams, wherein Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes marked their names in the league’s history books yet again.
On one hand where Mahomes now has 38 games with at least 300 passing yards in his first six seasons, surpassing former Dolphins QB Dan Marino for the most such games by a player in his first seven seasons, Kelce too made his mark. Possibly in a much larger way too.
Talking about the impressive tight end, Kelce now has 9,918 receiving yards in his first 10 seasons, passing former Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez for the most receiving yards by a Tight End in his first 11 career seasons.
While discussing the performance of Chiefs against the depleted Rams, Matt Hasselbeck highlighted just how important it is for the NFL to make sure Travis Kelce should be included in the MVP conversation. With the likes of Cooper Kupp being involved last time around, Kelce deserves every single right to be spoken off as the best player in the 2022-23 season.
On the latest episode of NFL on ESPN, NFL Analyst – Matt Hasselbeck stated, “If Cooper Kupp was going to be in the conversation last year, then Travis Kelce … deserves to be in the conversation.”
Perhaps if one doesn’t know, Travis Kelce needs just 82 more receiving yards in the 2022-23 season to become the fastest TE in NFL history to reach 10,000 career receiving yards. If he does it in the next game, he’ll have reached 10,000 career receiving yards 38 games faster than the next closest player.
That should surely make everyone aware about his candidature for this year’s MVP accolade.
