“Everyone back in Buffalo who helped us get here”- Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott appreciates the efforts of Buffalo’s community in helping them reach Detroit to face the Browns

Buffalo Bills had to move their home game from their city to Detroit in Week 11, due to a snowstorm warning. However, before the game took place, coach Sean McDermott spoke about the uncertainties in the team’s travel schedule and the unknown conditions players, coaches and staff.

With the snowstorm causing a havoc through Western New York, McDermott revealed how he and his wife were offered help by neighbors. That being said, despite over 77 inches of snow galling in Orchard Park, New York, Buffalo Bills made it to Detroit and even registered a win against the Brown 31-23.

The primary reason Sean McDermott’s team had to move to Detroit to play this game, was because of the resources in the area could be prioritized for other purposes. In this process, McDermott wasn’t alone in receiving a hand from the community.

“Everyone back in Buffalo who helped us get here, how much we appreciate them and [are] thankful for them,” McDermott said, as reported by ESPN. “And everyone back in Buffalo who’s currently digging out again, we’re thinking of you guys and that was for you.”

Not only Sean McDermott but even several Bills players (Josh Allen, Dawson Knox, Gabe Davis among others) also revealed how their neighbors helped them to dig them out, clear out their driveway. McDermott in particular even picked up linebacker Von Miller and punter Sam Martin on his way to the facility, from where everyone took a team bus all the way to the airport.

“I went out of my house to go to the facility and picked up Von and Sam, and down the road came the big plow,” McDermott added. “And I think he stopped, and we got out, we took a quick picture, and he did a great job clearing the road so we could get out of the development there.”
