Following the Super Bowl and before the NFL Draft, there’s an imperative event that helps determine the short-term fates of all 32 NFL teams. It’s the NFL free agency, and it has become a more important open market in recent seasons.
Certain teams can afford to be more active during the free agency period based on their salary cap. But for others, they may need to strategize and plan according to their budget. Nevertheless, here, we take a glance at the top 5 free agents out on the NFL market.
1) Davante Adams – The Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver is currently under the franchise tag and isn’t happy. At 29 years of age, Adams is at the peak of his NFL career and could be looking to make a move away from Green Bay if the team are unable to give him a contract that he demands. The three-time Pro Bowler will certainly receive bids in the free agency.
2) Terron Armstead – The tough OT had battled some knee injury issues with the New Orleans Saints in 2021. However, he still remained smooth as ever in pass protection when out there for any of quarterbacks. At 30, Armstead still has a lot to offer in the NFL.
3) Von Miller – Fresh after winning the Super Bowl with the LA Rams, the superstar linebacker will be hunting for more glory in 2022. At 32 years of age, Miller has already won two Super Bowls and the eight-time Pro Bowler will be a valuable part of any team that he joins in 2022.
4) Chandler Jones – The star OL has one Super Bowl ring to his name, but he won that during his time with the New England Patriots. And while he has not had the best of times with the Arizona Cardinals since joining the franchise in 2016, he did manage to make it as a Pro Bowler in 2021.
5) Chris Godwin – The 25-year-old played on the franchise tag last season and had a great outing with Tom Brady. However, the Bucs are still unsure on whether to keep the WR, who did struggle with a knee injury towards the end of last season.
