Jalen Hurts has shown what his true caliber is in the 2022-23 season. After being expected to lead the Philadelphia Eagles in the season, Hurts has ensured that his team is able to secure a winning streak, making Head Coach Nick Sirianni fall in love with his clutch as well as leadership prowess.
To those who haven’t followed the season so far, Philadelphia Eagles are top of the NFC East, courtesy to their undefeated streak. With the team being down 14-0 on Sunday, Nick seemed to be all sorts of trouble until Jalen Hurts darted up the middle of the field, lowered his shoulder, and put the ball across the goal line for a TD all by himself. This made the Eagles’ Head Coach verbal about the trust he has in his Quarterback even when odds get against him.
“I think trust grows as your relationship grows, as your reps with each other grow,” Sirianni said as per Profootballtalk. “I think that’s like any relationship. Your trust grows based off of past experiences. I think I said this to somebody earlier today, it’s not just a blind trust. It’s not a blind faith. Its reps built up, it’s built-up trust. Obviously, when I say it like that, it is, it’s built up over the past year because he just continues to make the plays necessary when they need to be made.”
Eagles Head Coach on Quarterback Jalen Hurts
Being 22-of-35 passes for 340 yards along with three TouchDowns against the Commanders, Jalen Hurts single-handedly ensured that his team triumph over the unpredictable Commanders. When Nick Sirianni was asked about the composure, calm and finesse of his Quarterback, he had the smoothest response possible.
Sirianni on Jalen Hurts’ composure, “He just never moves. I once was screaming in his face, his face never changed. He makes a great play, same face. The freaking bleachers collapse on him and almost kill him, nothing. He’s just so focused.”
That being said, Jalen Hurts is clearly one of the leaders for the MVP accolade in the 2022-23 season. But with the road getting tougher in the coming weeks, it will be interesting to witness the timeline – as to how long the 24-years-old be able to keep his team away from its first loss.
