It has been three weeks since Dallas Cowboys’ primary QB – Dak Prescott was ruled out of game-action after sustaining a thumb injury. With the team bowing out against the Tampa Bay Bucs in Week 1, backup QB – Cooper Rush has done a phenomenal job in keeping the boat afloat for Jerry Jones’ team.
Ahead of the hyped clash between Cowboys and reigning Super Bowl Champs, LA Rams, Jones decided to give an update about Dak Prescott’s health. The Cowboys GM did not rule out Prescott from playing on Sunday but confessed that ‘he is not on playing well,’ referring to the former’s surgically repaired thumb.
To those who are not aware, Dak Prescott had his surgery on 12 September, and had his stitches removed after 14 days. Even Head Coach, Mike McCarthy admitted (after the team’s win against Commanders) that his primary QB hasn’t thrown the football since then and is bound to meet the doctors on coming Tuesday.
Cooper Rush has done a fine job in filling in for Dak Prescott, and if the latter doesn’t play on Sunday, (most likely seeming to be the case) the veteran backup Quarterback will be making his fourth consecutive start for the Dallas Cowboys.
“I don’t know that you could ask for better news technically, physically in how it’s responding, how it’s healing so to speak,” Jones said, as per ESPN. “So, all of those things are on go and I don’t know that as we bid bye to each day if considering the injury, considering the location of the injury, I don’t know that you could make any more progress. There’s some things here about healing that again I often say only the man upstairs knows how that works, but he’ll have a big week and he’ll be hard on himself getting it ready to go.”
Will the Cowboys be able to register a fourth successive win in the 2022-23 season, without Dak Prescott? Or was it just a string of good luck? Remains to be seen.
