“I want to understand everything”: Packers Rookie WR Christian Watson reveals what he wants to learn from Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers signing a 3-year-extension with the Green Bay Packers only showcased the trust this 35-year-old Quarterback have on his team despite the exit of top wide receiver Devante Adams. The Packers traded the latter to the Los Angeles Raiders in the offseason. In place of which Packers drafted three wide receivers in the 2022 draft.

Green Bay Packers gained Christian Watson out of the North Dakota State in the second round, Romeo Doubs from Nevada in the fourth round, and Samori Toure in the seventh round. These three young rookies have given ample confidence to an ‘experienced’ Aaron Rodgers as he quite likes what he has seen out of these players. In particular, Christian Watson has evidently been in awe of Rodgers’ persona.

While Watson had been struggling with his knee injury in Packers’ preseason, he could not appear from the trail runs. However, Aaron Rodgers has seen enough of the North Dakota State champ to be impressed by his work ethic and rate.

Christian Watson reveals the inspiration he gets from Aaron Rodgers

“Just knowing the reasons and knowing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing and why I’m doing it on that play, that’s something that’s big for me,” Watson said of his communicating with Rodgers, as quoted by CBS Sports. “I want to understand everything, just being able to go to him after and kind of pick his brain a little bit and learn more.”

Given that Warson would be requiring time to settle in as the 2022-23 NFL Season rages on, Aaron Rodgers would be required to help these rookies fall right into this place, if the former is to play any role in Green Bay Packers’ offensive strategies. We have seen the talent of Watson in his memorable college stint, but the NFL is a whole different level, and who better than Aaron Rodgers to guide them in this process.

That being said, all eyes will be on reigning MVP–Aaron Rodgers as he chases history to become the first ever players in the league’s history, since his predecessor in Lambeau, to win three consecutive MVP accolades. While he might have had an individual glory in the past, Rodgers has suffered painful playoff exits. Will the latest season be any different? Remains to be seen.
