When Odell Beckham JR tore his ACL during the Super Bowl action, Los Angeles Rams knew that their player would be requiring some time off the field. While they could’ve handed him a place in the roster for maintaining the sense of security, they decided to a much different stance.
Given that there are plethora of teams which are in dire need of experienced wide recievers, it is shocking to many, to witness Odell Beckham Jr not being signed as his helthy efforts and experience can surely pave a way dep for a team. So when former NFL star was inquired about when LA Rams should sign there star WR, his opinion did have a meaningful understanding.
Sharpe said on Undisputed, “No, because he can’t them (LA Rams. He couldn’t help them last night unless he’s a 100% healthy. So most team will not pay guys to REHAB. There’s a difference – if people think look what they did for Chris Godwin…look what the Cowboys did for Michael Gallup…but OBJ was not drafted. To teams who don’t draft players, do not have the same love, adiration and affinity to keep players even through a bad injury. And this is what Odell is,,,he’s 6 and a half months post surgery for an ACL. If that would’ve been say – 8 or 9 months, he would’ve probably been signed.”
Shannon Sharpe unsurprised by Odell Beckham Jr not being signed by Rams or any other NFL team
Odell Beckham Jr was the center piece for LA Rams in Super Bowl LVI. Furthermore, he was already on the track of being the Final’s MVP if it wasn;t for his ACL tear. So why have the Rams waited for so long to book his seat?
Sharpe explained, “If this injury say would’ve happen in September, he probably be signed. But it only goes to show that what they (Rams) think of him.
“So for me Odell (Beckham Jr) at the bare minimum is two months away from being able to contribute and help a team win. S, I’m not surprised that the Ram or perhaps no team has signed him. Because right now he’s a guy in the rehab, he can’t help me win, there are only 46 spots. These spots are very-very valuable. So, if you’re not a starter, I at least need you to contribute, Odell’s value is on the opposite side of football.”
There have been reports that the Rams have already kept a Locker Room space separate for Odell Beckham jr. But that does not give any assurance toe ither of the parties, if some other team were to avail the service of this WR. Will we witness an official response for either the team or the concerned player?
