While modern-day NFL fans know Shannon Sharpe as an NFL analyst. However, he was known to be one of the fiercest tight ends back in the day, who played for the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. Being one of the most formidable unsung heroes for his team, it was his hard-fought efforts where he earned his true name.
Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Sharpe was undeniably one of the best ever tight ends. Deservingly, he won titles with multiple teams. The current NFL analyst for Fox Sports eventually became a household name not just because of his talents and skills but his vibrant personality got the best version of him off-the-field.
Shannon Sharpe, who was born June 26, 1968, played football, basketball and ran track while attending Glennville High School. That was just the time William Hall who drove Sharpe closer to the sport of football and encouraged him to practice every morning.
Moreover, during each of Sharpe’s last three years with the Tigers, Sharpe was an All-American, made it on to the All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. As a result of which, with the 192nd overall pick, the Denver Broncos acquired Sharpe, a team which was the reigning Super Bowl runner-up.
To talk his biggest achievements in the NFL, the 54-year-old analyst appeared in 12 post-season contests as a Denver Bronco – all starts – and ranks third in franchise playoff history in receptions, with a tally of 47 and fourth in receiving yards, with a tally of 505.
Furthermore, Shannon Sharpe enjoyed back-to-back titles with the Broncos in 1997 and 1998 and returned to the NFL’s summit with the Ravens in 2000. holds the NFL post-season record for longest reception, a 96-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown at Oakland in the 2000 AFC Championship Game.
That being said, on February 6, 2011, Sharpe was inducted into the Pro football Hall of Famer, he was escorted to the Hall of Famer ceremony by Canton native Haley Smith.
