It is not an everyday occurrence that a young Quarterback can keep getting the better off Patrick Mahomes and his team. However, Joe Burrow is one of a kind, as he has gone onto not beat Mahomes thrice, but has done it in a single year. The latest of his wins came in Week 13 of the 2022-23 season, wherein the Bengals won 27-24 after coming from behind in the fourth quarter.
Joe Burrow went an extremely efficient 25-31 through the air to go along with a pair of touchdowns. His poise under pressure stood out throughout the game, making sure that his Cincinnati Bengals stay firmly one place beneath Baltimore Ravens in the respective divisional standing. Moreover, even the returning Ja’Marr Chase could not help himself from giving out an MVP shoutout to Burrow.
“He (Joe Burrow) should be in the MVP race,” Chase said as reported by Clutchpoints. “If he’s not in it, he should be. #1 quarterback in the race.”
Well there is no denying that Burrow has plenty of talent and skill set yet it does appear to be a little late in making a case for one’s MVP candidature. However, it wasn’t only Chase but even HC Zac Taylor who wanted his QB to be looked up as one of the best candidates for the MVP accolades.
“Absolutely,” Taylor doubled down on Ja’Marr Chase claim of Burrow. “He’s playing at the level we need for him to lead us to be confident that we can go win every game we play.
“S,o whatever those conversations are like, there’s no doubt. I’ve said it before, I wouldn’t trade him for anybody in the world.”
