When San Francisco 49ers decided to opt for Trey Lance rather than Jimmy Garoppolo as their #1 Quarterback, many expected the veteran to leave the team at some point in the 2022-23 season. However, the significant turn of events has led the latter to not only acquire his place in the starting lineup but also blossom better than ever.

Jimmy Garoppolo

As per Ian Rapoport’s sources, 49ers are looking to extend their relation with Jimmy after a highly successful stint in the current season. The two sides are reportedly open to the idea of Garoppolo return to the team.

“A few months after the team and (Jimmy) Garoppolo amicably decided to move on, only to get back together again in a wild sequence of events that led to him being their starting QB once again, both sides are open to him being back for the 2023 season, sources say.”

Could Jimmy Garoppolo be 49ers #1 QB?

Having been sidelined for the entire 2022-23 season, Trey Lance’s involvement in the team’s plans will depend upon his recovery, this is just when Garoppolo could make full use of his potential to grab his place back or at least put forward a valid case why he deserves a top spot as the #1 Quarterback.

Safe to say that the market for Jimmy Garoppolo will surely be competitive, though. The current San Francisco 49ers QB is still a quality starter in today’s league.

Teams looking to take that next step would love to have him on their roster, but can he be consistent with the hype he has generated off late? Remains to be an interesting storyline to keep an eye upon.
