Brock Purdy will be taking on Tom Brady, after he replaced Jimmy Garoppolo after a foot injury in the remaining games of the 2022-23 season. Known as Mr. Irrelevant, because he was the last pick of the 2022 NFL draft, Purdy will get his chance to feature opposite the 7xSuper Bowl Champ in the coming week.
Being 5-6, sitting in the fourth place of the NFC playoffs picture, they are sitting at the numero uno spot of the NFC South division. But before locking horns against San Francisco 49ers, Brady will lead his side against divisional rivals New Orleans Saints
When asked Purdy’s mindset ahead of Week 14 showdown against Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he said, “Yeah I think it’s cool. I think it’s really cool. Dude’s been playing football longer than I’ve been alive.”
Talking about the individual performance of Purdy when he was told to step out on the field for Jimmy – the rookie completed 25 out of 37 passes for 210 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception.
Moreover, Purdy averaged only 5.7 yards per attempt, yet he kept the offense moving with dump-offs to running back Christian McCaffrey and short high-percentage passes to wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
On the other hand, Brady’s men seemed to have caught the pace of the 2022-23 season until they faced Cleveland Brown. Given that they have no room errors now, Brady will be looking to lead his team past two upcoming opponents who have been hampered with injuries. What drama awaits? Remains to be seen.
