There were many who questioned the ability and standards of Patrick Mahomes as the Kansas City Chiefs failed to make it into the final showdown. On the same note, not only fans but even various analysts decided to raise major concerns over the 26-year-old.
Especially with Tyreek Hill gone, there were speculations over the offensive/passing game-play of the Chiefs. However, at least for Week 1, the team’s lead star – Patrick Mahomes has silenced all those who questioned him and his teammates. Kansas started their season with a thumping 44-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Which gave sports media personality, Nick Wright a fitting chance to counter Mahomes’ critics.
Nick Wright tweeted, “Truly hilarious that folks try to argue anyone other than Mahomes is the best player in the league. Just laughable.”
Patrick Mahomes went for 30-of-39 for 360 yards and 5 TouchDowns on Sunday. What’s ever more interesting? Mahomes spread the ball to nine different players with tight end Travis Kelce leading the team with over 120 yards on 8 catches. Moreover, four players had at least one TouchDown reception.
Not only that but Mahomes should his never-die-attitude as he continued to impress everyone with his play, with a tape wrapped around his wrist. This resounding win was a statement from Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs that their offense will work just fine even without Tyreek Hill. In the process, Mahomes even registered his personal best tally of completing 12 straight passes.
After the loss in the previous season, it indeed feels like Mahomes was keeping a track of all the negative remarks and criticism as he inspired the offensive prowess of his team to another extent.
Lastly, Mahomes completed more than 72% of his passes while averaging 308.4 yards and compiling an incredible 18:0 TD:INT. That being said, the 26-year-old marquee Quarterback is expected to undergo some tests before the Chiefs take on Chargers in a hyped-up battle in Week 2.
