The Kansas City Chiefs will begin the next season without two of their important players who aren’t a part of the team anymore.
The Kansas City Chiefs will kickstart a new era when they’ll begin the next season. The team will be without one of their most prolific players in Tyreek Hill.
The WR was traded to the Miami Dolphins after the talks between the franchise and player over a contract extension broke down. Hill was a huge part of the Chiefs’ success over the years and was the go-to-card for their quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
However, the Chiefs still have Travis Kelce to pair up with Mahomes, and they have also added some good players in the draft and free agency which will bolster their offense.
Hill’s impact on the Kansas City Chiefs was immense, but it’s part of the game that you are bound to lose your best players.
Chiefs GM Brett Veach recently spoke about the departure of Hill and opened up all the details about the contract issues and then how the trade went through.
Brett said, “It’s certainly a crazy dynamic, I think we got certainly tipped off early on in free agency. When you start to see the receiver deals come in, I think it’s one of those situations where it’s probably a case-by-case basis..”
He added, “I’m sure it has a lot to do with where teams are and the stress to win right now, and do you have a rookie under contract, or do you have a veteran?”
Brett Veach further discussed how the team has tried to replace the presence of Tyreek Hill, in order to again be a contender for the Super Bowl.
Veach said, “Someone asked me earlier about where we stand on that and I think it’s truly just the year-by-year basis. If your cap is in a situation where you’re good now and you have some years that fall where you’re in a position to be aggressive, I think teams will be aggressive. This year was just a different year for us in regards to where we were with our quarterback and some other players on the team.”
Brett Veach later talked about the additions that the Chiefs have made in order to replace Tyreek Hill. He also highlighted the facts about how they have possibly become better for the next season.
He added, “Now, this may come full circle where in a couple years from now we’re going out there and we’re one of those teams signing that big free-agent wide receiver. We like where the draft was and we thought this was a point in time during this run here with Pat [Mahomes] that we can take a step back and get the resources and add receivers, and we did that with [JuJu Smith-Schuster] and [Marquez Valdes-Scantling] and certainly Skyy Moore there in the draft, but also use some of those resources to add to the defense.”
The depth of the Chiefs’ offense has increased immensely. The front office has done a great job so far to fill the void left by Tyreek Hill, and the Chiefs are Super Bowl contenders once again.
The Kansas City Chiefs lost another important player on their team this offseason. It was the Safety Tyrann Mathieu, who is signing with the New Orleans Saints.
Tyrann has been the leader of this franchise since he signed here. He was the vocal leader of their defense and replacing him won’t be an easy task.
However, the Chiefs have made soon decent additions which might put them in a better situation, than they were with Tyran, but it will be proved when they get to play in the next season.
Unsurprisingly, despite the Chiefs losing their 2 important players, they are once again among the favorites to win it all next year.
It will be interesting to see how all the new players on the Chiefs squad contribute to their new team, as they look to continue to add another Super Bowl to continue their dynasty.
