The Chicago Bears have traded Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers for 2022 second-round pick and 2023 sixth-round pick. Khalil who has been a six-time Pro Bowl DE had been struggling a lot recently with injuries.
He is returning to the AFC West as earlier in his career he played for the Oakland Raiders who were a part of the AFC West before they relocated to Las Vegas.
Khalil Mack had been one of the best defensive players in the league before his injuries and this is a very good acquisition for the Los Angeles Chargers who will be pairing him with Joey Bosa and together these two can cause havoc against any offense in this league.
Khalil still has 3 years left on contract and the Chargers will be paying him above the $60 million mark if he stays fit this could turn out to be a very good trade for them as we have seen the Chargers struggle a lot on the defensive end and the talent of Justin Herbert on the offensive end was getting wasted as the Chargers failed to even make the playoffs despite a heroic season by their quarterback.
The AFC West is fully stacked and the competition is at an all-time high, with the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and the Denver Broncos all looking like a serious contender for the title.
The Broncos acquired Russell Wilson and the Chargers now acquiring Khalil Mack has caused concern for the Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes who have been the AFC West Division Champions for 7 straight years and this upcoming season might turn out to be very tough for them.
The AFC West is without a doubt the toughest division in the NFL currently and all these teams can still make further moves in the offseason and in the draft which can make it even more competitive.
