After a positive offseason overall, Kirk Cousins and Minnesota Vikings have every chance to be the feel-good-team of the 2022. Especially with new Head Coach Kevin O’Connell coming at the relm of things, many expect both this personnel to have the same magic to what they had in Washington.
With Vikings locking horns against the Green Bay Packers in their first showdown, Kirk Cousins and the attacking prowess of Minnesota destroyed the opposition that will surely live in the memory of fans for years to come. On the same note—sports media personality—Colin Cowherd applauded the efforts of Cousins and admired how Kevin’s presence helps Kirk to perform better.
It seemed like Vikings had come out to put the entire NFC on notice. With Kirk Cousins passing and distributing the football – as beautiful as he did on Sunday – there surely weren’t any answers for the opposition to find a counter attack.
The efficiency and communication between Kevin O’Connell and Kirk Cousins were simply expectational. While the latter commanded the line of scrimmage superbly, Connell focused on setting the right balance in each possession. This gave an idea about the calm yet offensive minded acumen of the new Vikings’ Head Coach.
Colin Cowherd spoke on the Volume’s latest episode and quoted, “Kirk Cousins simply needed the organisation to pivot to an offensive coach. Mike Zimmer is a good coach but he’s older, he’s rigid, could be crusty and Kirk Cousins isn’t the guy or personality which can overcome that. So here comes Kevin O’Connell, who is not a yeller…not a screamer but a positive pro-player vibe. Well Kirk Cousins looked great today. There are some athletes who like hard coaching – he doesn’t mind barking or being barked at. Others are different. And with Kirk Cousins, I feel he has been doubted his entire career and he needs the support.
Given that this was just Week 1, it will be interesting to witness how Kirk Cousins will lead his side as the Vikings would face a stiffer challenge as Philadelphia Eagles.
