San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan talks about the team’s plans for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo
Jimmy Garoppolo who is currently the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers was planned to be traded before the start of the next season but things have not gone as planned.
The 49ers haven’t been able to strike a deal yet with any team and currently, most of the teams have already got their quarterbacks for the next season.
Jimmy Garoppolo will likely stay with the 49ers for the next season even though he might not be starting this year because the team had planned for Trey Lance to be the starting quarterback for the franchise in the upcoming season.
Speaking about Jimmy G, the San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said, “Jimmy’s a good player that we all really like as a person and as a teammate, and we’re going to wait to see whatever helps the Niners the most.”
Kyle Shanahan admitted that they were looking at Trey Lance to start the next season and said, “That’s why we looked into trading Jimmy Because we obviously believe Trey can be a starter and we’re ready to do that.
Kyle Shanahan further talked about the competition between Jimmy G and Trey Lance which happened last year and might be seen again in this upcoming season and said, “That was tough, Trey wasn’t ready to beat him out last year. It’ll definitely be closer to that this year, if it happens, but that’s something we won’t have to worry about until training camp.”
He added, “Usually when you have a situation like that, it makes everyone better anyways, Jimmy’s a good quarterback, so he’s not easy for anyone to beat out.
It’ll be interesting to see who will be the starter for the 49ers in the upcoming season as many believe that the Trey Lance era in San Francisco has started and he will be the right man to lead this talented team towards a Super Bowl.
