The LA Rams and Odell Beckham Jr are reportedly in discussions of striking a new deal

Odell Beckham Jr played a massive role in guiding the LA Rams to the Super Bowl last season. Although the wide receiver missed the majority of the grand event itself due to injury, he played a critical role for the Super Bowl winners.

Beckham joined the Rams in 2021 as a replacement for the injured Robert Woods. But his impact was substantial as he scored seven touchdowns in 12 games, including the first score at the Super Bowl against the Arizona Cardinals.

While Beckham still faces a long road back to recovery, it seems like the Rams are keen to put a leap of faith in the 29-year-old. Reports from the NFL Network state that the recently crowned NFL champions want to re-sign Beckham before he becomes a free agent.

It is believed that Beckham’s injury will keep him out of action until November 2022 and that is a big blow for the player who was in fine form. This could mean that Beckham would miss about half of the new season due to injury. But the Rams are willing to take their chances.

LA Rams to offer extension for OBJ?

While the Rams already have Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson and Woods in their WR ranks, injuries hampered their campaign. Beckham, however, fit in smoothly at the team and if not for him, the Rams may not have clinched the Super Bowl.

But due to his injury, the Rams are reportedly considering the option to offer Beckham a less financially-friendly offer. Beckham has also previously stated that he felt at ‘home’ in LA which could have been a sign that he is keen to stay put with the Rams if they can strike a deal.

Beckham’s reputation preceded him before he arrived in Cleveland in 2019. He then played for the Browns for two years but his rather bizarre off-field antics and awkward interviews for the team saw him being traded to the Rams. He previously plied his trade in New York for five years with the Giants where he was named as a three-time Pro Bowler.
