The post Tom Brady era hasn’t been the most successful for New England Patriots and Bill Belichick, yet they have decided to find comfort in Mac Jones. However, the latter couldn’t lead the team to a win in Miami on Sunday. More than the humiliating 20-7 loss to Miami Dolphins.
Mac Jones was 21-of-30 for 213 yards and a TouchDown, with an interception during the game. Furthermore, he was sacked twice and hit three times by the Dolphins defense. Things got worse when there were reports of Jones entering the X-Ray room, while Bill Belichick had no updates about his player’s health status in the postgame interview.
Nick Wright quoted on First Things First, “Oh, It’s a 5-alarm fire. So, Mac Jones was terrible. He had 2 turnovers and one of them directly led to a TouchDown which equaled how many total TouchDowns Patriots had. Their offense could be the 6th– worst in the NFL. They (New England Patriots) had two major offseason offensive additions.”
Nick Wright unimpressed by Mac Jones leading Patriots’ offense
This was the third straight loss Patriots endures at Hark Rock Stadium. Safe to say, the self-inflicted wounds would be the biggest culprit in a game that was certainly winnable for Mac Jones, Belichick’s team. While Mac Jones couldn’t be at his best, the defensive prowess of the Patriots was on show and the same was highlighted by Wright as well.
Wright added, “I usually wouldn’t say this but they didn’t look as well coached as usual. Giving up the TouchDown before the half…it was just inexplicable. One last check Wildes, this was Bill Belichick’s 35th game since Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay, he’s now under .500…17-18 post Brady. So, I’ll be a little concerned.”
Although the o-line was able to keep Mac Jones off the ground better than they had been, there were too many mistakes made to maintain any sort of offensive success. On one hand where Mac Jones made good passes to Hunter Henry, Meyers and running backs – Steveson and Harris, his inconsistency once again overshadowed his abilities.
