After a long uncertainty about who will be the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers in the upcoming season, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Trey Lance will be the one to lead the team.

It will be the end of the Jimmy Garoppolo era in San Francisco, who had a great time with the team, but now it’s time for Lance to take over. Drafted last season, Trey Lance is ready to take the role and is very confident about it.

Trey said, “Mentally’s the biggest thing. I’m … light-years ahead of where I was last year, Last year … I knew what was going on, but this year I can actually pay attention a lot more to defense, pay attention to fronts, defensive structures and all that. I’m learning a whole lot, and I’m able to kind of know what’s going on.”

He added, Every play was something new. I learned so much, not only in the games, but the practices, the walk-throughs, everything that goes on as a starter versus backing up Jimmy last year,”

Trey Lance has no hard feelings for Jimmy Garoppolo

Trey Lance in his rookie season served as a backup to Jimmy G. Jimmy had a fruitful time with the 49ers, as he took them to a Super Bowl, and last season also was very close to defeating the LA Rams in the NFC Championship Game.

Trey Lance has no hard feelings whatsoever for Jimmy G and claimed that he learned a lot from him. He said, “It is what is. It’s nothing weird at all. I never had anything I could possibly say that’s bad about Jimmy. He’s been a big bro to me since the day I came in. He could have made things hell for me.”

Trey added, “I’ve been preparing to play since the day that I was drafted. So nothing really changed. There wasn’t really a moment or anything like that, but I’m excited to lead these guys and get this thing going.

What’s next for Jimmy Garoppolo?

With his exit from the San Francisco 49ers almost confirmed, Jimmy G will now look to explore his options in the market. Currently, there aren’t many teams in the NFL that are interested to get him.

However, that could change pretty quickly. Any injury to the starting quarterback of any team will immediately result in a high interest in bringing in Garoppolo. He isn’t the best of quarterbacks, but he has always been able to get the job done.

The likes of the Seattle Seahawks, who don’t have a good quarterback yet, can also look to get Jimmy G. He will be good there as he will have a good receiving core with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Moreover, there are many teams who might need to get him as the season progresses. His contract will be tough to handle, but there is no denying that he will win you games by hook or crook.
