There is no denying that the Dallas Cowboys have been kept alive in the 2022-23 season, majorly by backup Quarterback – Cooper Rush. With Dak Prescott injuring himself in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rush has ensured that his team doesn’t fall behind in the division any further. Result of which, they have gone onto win three consecutive games.
With Cooper Rush maintaining his perfect record as a starter in the 2022-23 season, he has changed many perceptions. One of which is for NFL Analyst – Mike Greenberg, who broke all limitations by suggesting Rush to be one of the MVP candidates for the regular season.
While the likes of Domonique Foxworth, Jeff Saturday and Kimberley A. Martin went with traditional MVP picks, by choosing Micah Parson, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson respectively, Greenberg went with an unorthodox pick in Cowboys’ Quarterback – Cooper Rush.
Is Cooper Rush a legit MVP candidate?
An interesting fact about Cooper Rush here is, he might not have as great stats at Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts. But his consistency to secure a win for his team has been impeccable. As a starter for his team, in these three weeks, Rush hasn’t thrown a single interception. Although he is aware that Prescott would be replacing him whenever he returns to full health, yet he has given him all to put forward his claim in the most comforting manner.
It is not only about the wins but Cowboys’ have improved their ground game and defense also because of Cooper Rush. A big chunk of credit also goes to Micah Parsons, who surely could be an MVP candidate, if he continues to defend in the same manner.
That being said, Cooper Rush deserves all the credit in the world for keeping alive Dallas Cowboys. But an MVP contention could be a little out of sorts as it is based on the individual brilliance than the team scenario.
