The deadline day acquisition of Nyheim Hines has surely boosted the offensive prowess of Buffalo Bills, as they signify serious aspiration of securing a Super Bowl 57-berth. In exchange of Hines, Indianapolis Colts got Zack Moss and a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
So, when former Indianapolis Colts’ punter Pat McAfee got a chance to ask the Bills GM – Brandon Beane about his mindset and strategy to acquire Nyheim Hines, who has 36 rushing yards and 188 receiving yards this season, he could help but use the ‘f’ word to showcase his true feelings.
McAfee said on the latest episode of Pat McAfee Show, “What did you see in Nyheim Hines that made you pull the trigger? You said you had talked a little bit with Carolina about Christian McCaffrey, that conversation just didn’t come to fruition. What was it about Nyheim Hines that you thought, like would fit your offense? And you did you go get them, and f**k you for that.”
Brandon emphasized how they had checked upon Nyheim Hines several times, even when Colts were not interested in trading him. Acknowledging that the situation in the league changes drastically, Bills were quick to get their hands on this charismatic running back.
Beane responded to McAfee, stating, “Well, I respectfully appreciate the f**k you there. But also, he’s a guy that I’ve had my eye on before. We’ve checked into him just like you know you check in the guys at different times. A couple of summers ago, I believe it was during the COVID summer, I really didn’t feel like we had that piece in the backfield, you know…for us…for Josh as an outlet player.”
Adding Nyheim Hines to the Bills-offensive-mix, they now have a more versatile one-two punch in the backfield. To talk about his individual stats – Hines has a wonderful passing game and his (1,725) receiving yards, (1,205) rushing yards, (1,125) return yards justify just that.
